DENVER - Dee Wallace! jumped into fame after the box-office hit "E.T." Almost 29 years later, she's sharing her career experience and lessons learned.
Starring in 130 movies, Wallace's role as Mary in "E.T." left a lasting impact, defining American culture's view of motherhood for a generation.
Her third book, "Bright Light" is a memento of her real life-experiences and inspirational advice for readers.
"We all want to be free and enjoy and love, that's what we all want. And in order to create that in our lives, we cannot turn our bright light down. We got to shine, people," Wallace said. "We think when we're hurt or abused or used in some way we've got to bring our light in and make ourselves smaller, but it's the opposite. You just have to choose to shine again and that's why I wrote the book."
Wallace believes in re-creating yourself, and has demonstrated recreation with her many memorable characters in her films.
"Keep creating yourself no matter whose hurt you, or whatever your story is. Your story is the same story as my story in 'Bright Light,'" Wallace said.
Wallace is on her book tour and will be at the Tattered Cover on Colfax Avenue at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
